Analysis of Photos on college magazines
For the first photo (#1) I have chosen that to be on my contents page due to the fact that it shows the setting of a college to be natural and quite peaceful. Furthermore, it shows the students body language to be quite calm and laid back which suggest that college is quite easy and since the person is smiling, it suggest how he feels aboout college which is satisfactory. I have chosen this image due to the fact that I am able to edit it quite easily on photoshop by cropping out the un needed things such as the trees and part of the college building.
For the second photo (#2) I have not decided for it to be part of my college magazine due to the fact that it's not a medium shot since I woild need a photo which would show some of his body area. Additionally, I would find it hard to add the masthead and coverlines since it would be hard to get rid of the background to make it slightly more clear for the writing.
For the third photo (#3), again, this image is a medium shot but it would be quite hard to see my coverlines since one of my main colours is white which the participants of the questionnaire has chosen.
Moreover, the fourth photo (#4), I have decided not to choose this photo due to the fact that the shadow is in her face which gives negative connotations of college of have a 'darker' side of life. Furthermore, the person's body language within the photo suggest that she doesn't care about college since she her body is facing away from the camera.
Within the fifth photo (#5), I have decided not to use this photo due to the fact that it is quite blurry on the left side of the image as well as the fact that there is a person behind him which doesn't give my college magazine a 'professional' look.
Finally, the sixth photo (#6), I have decided to use this for my front cover due to the fact that it is a medium shot, red is the background in which is one of three favourite colours chosen from the questionnaire and it would be quite easy to add coverlines and mastheads since the background is a plain red (apart from the pole on the left which doesn't affect the photo as much).
